2023 is about to wave goodbye!

We haven’t seen everyone for a long time, and we really miss you all! Just in time for the Spring Festival, the TiDB New Year Tea Gathering is about to open again!

The New Year Tea Gathering in 2023 made us feel that a more relaxed event format is more conducive to everyone’s communication!

In 2023, we heard that many new and old friends in the community are very concerned about the progress of TiDB this year!

Therefore, at the 2024 New Year Tea Gathering, we will once again chat with everyone, reminisce about the past year, talk about each other’s development, and listen to the unsatisfactory aspects, hoping to improve in the coming year!

This time we are bringing back the results and cases from our overseas endeavors. In the theme “TiDB Overseas Journey, Talking about the Survival and Struggle Overseas,” you can see many TiDB practices of globally renowned enterprises and how TiDB helps their businesses realize value.

Unlike last year, this year’s New Year Tea Gathering is jointly organized by Zhihu’s @Dai Xiaolei and Tongcheng Travel’s @Tian Shuaimeng, the organizers of the TiDB community in Beijing. On January 7th, at the old place (PingCAP Beijing office), we have prepared good wine and tea, just waiting for you to come!

Event Information

Event Time: January 7, 2024 (Sunday) 14:00-17:15

Event Location: Beijing PingCAP Office (2nd Floor, C7, North Territory, Dongsheng Software Technology Park, Haidian District)

This year’s tea gathering is richer in format than last year!

:man_surfing: Community Flash:
Zhihu’s Dai Xiaolei and Zuoyebang’s Liu Qiang will share technical topics. This time, we do not intend to directly present PPTs. The audience can interact with the guests at any time during the lecture, making the presentation more colorful. If needed, the two guests can also adjust the content of the presentation at any time to meet the needs of the audience.

:speech_balloon: TiDB Roast Conference:
The TiDB Roast Conference was first proposed at the 2021 devcon. At that time, the roast conference was the most emotionally engaging part of the entire event. This year, we continue this tradition. At this tea gathering, we have the “Roast Conference” hosted by Lao Fang (Fang Xiaole and Tian Shuaimeng). This year, we hope to express any dissatisfaction with the use of TiDB through some jokes and humor. There will also be PMs interacting with everyone on-site to answer questions. We will record everyone’s needs and suggestions to continue optimizing and iterating the product.

:raised_hands: TiDB Exchange Gathering:
This tea gathering focuses more on everyone’s voice. In each topic sharing, we will actively interact and communicate with the on-site partners, listen to your thoughts and suggestions. We have prepared [I Have Something to Say] handheld signs on-site. When you want to ask questions or express your feelings, you can use them directly! Every feedback is the voice we look forward to!

:beers: Tea, Drinks, Chatting, and Book Giving:
Adhering to the tone of chatting with everyone, we have also prepared essential items for chatting on-site: sunflower seeds, drinks, beer, and tea, hoping everyone can chat to their heart’s content. During this relatively pleasant and joyful time before the New Year, continuing last year’s tradition, we have also prepared some books for the on-site partners. We wish everyone a new year full of knowledge and elegance.

Review of Last Week’s Shanghai Event:

About TiDB Regional Exchange Events

TiDB regional exchange events are sponsored by the TiDB community and organized by regional organizers. Each regional event aims to “connect regional tech people and share technical practices,” understanding the technical practices of local enterprises and expanding the peer circle through regional activities.

Become a Regional Organizer

This is the 5th event held within a month. Recently, there have been three offline events in Shanghai (December 23), Beijing (January 7), and Hefei (January 13), and two online events: Meetup No.166 (December 9) and Meetup No.167 (December 27). Soon, you will see TiDB events in your city!

We also welcome you to become a regional organizer of the TiDB community at any time, and join us in bringing events to your city, gathering a group of open-source enthusiasts, pure tech lovers, and like-minded friends interested in new technologies. :two_hearts:
