The 2024 TiDB Community Free Certification Event has ended! Thank you to all the TiDBers for participating!
We saw many participants pass the certification this time! Your efforts over the past month have been worthwhile!
This was also the first time the TiDB community held a free certification event, and we hope to hear your feedback on this event so we can improve in the future (feel free to give us suggestions! Would you be willing to participate in similar events next time?)
Let us know in the comments!
We will select three participants who provide the most heartfelt feedback to receive a small gift!
When the free certification event for PCTA/PCTP/PCSD was first announced, I was extremely excited. I had been waiting for this day for a long time and didn’t hesitate to use the points I earned from daily check-ins to redeem exam vouchers and courses. This was a long-planned learning and certification process
. Unfortunately, despite my efforts, I failed the PCTA exam, which in turn prevented me from taking the PCTP exam. If I could do it all over again, I would definitely pass the PCTA first before signing up for the PCTP. Losing points is a minor issue; it’s just that I feel very disappointed. Ironically, I easily passed the PCSD exam, which I thought I would definitely fail. This must be some kind of mystical phenomenon—when I take things seriously, I fail, but when I don’t care, I succeed.
Anyway, I’ll continue to check in daily to accumulate points. I hope the organization will hold similar events again, as they are very meaningful and promote learning through exams
It’s time to take the 8.X exam next year, right?
Now the certification no longer differentiates between versions!
It was a very meaningful event, and it felt great to check in and learn with my friends. I haven’t been this serious and patient in sticking to something for a long time. I signed up for the PCTP and PCSD exams, and the one-month preparation time was quite tight. Besides work, I almost studied for one or two hours every day. Throughout April, I went through the 303 and 301 courses almost entirely and also studied part of the 302 course. Although the process was quite tough, the outcome was good. Many times, you need to give yourself some pressure and motivation, just like the saying goes: “The road may be long, but if you walk, you will reach it; the task may be difficult, but if you do it, you will succeed.” Here, I also want to thank the official team for providing this opportunity and benefits, the course teachers for their wonderful explanations, and the operations staff for their enthusiastic help, reminders, and guidance.
Although I have taken all three certifications, I want to aim for a higher score if there are more activities next year. Seeing the experts in the WeChat group showing off their scores makes me want to give it a try.
Free certification in the community is a huge benefit for those who are new to TiDB operations or for companies that need talent for using TiDB. The community offers free certification and courses that can be redeemed with very low points. Additionally, these regular scheduled exams are more beneficial than harmful. Many people lack strong self-discipline, and without the pressure from work, they might prolong their learning process. TiDB’s exam activities provide more motivation for learning, allowing individuals to gain a deeper understanding of TiDB while watching videos and getting certified.
I will participate again next year.
You asked me if I support it, and my answer is definitely yes. Low threshold, high returns, absolutely supportive.
I passed several exams last year, but I felt that I didn’t fully understand some of the questions. This time, there was an event, so I participated again and found that there were still some questions I didn’t understand. It seems that I need to continue studying and improving in the future!
I will participate in the next event as well. I set a goal for myself to achieve PCTP, but I found out that it requires more than 2000 points to redeem.
I registered for two exams this time, and although I passed both, the scores were lower than I expected, which indicates that there are many areas where my understanding is not thorough enough. It would be great if I could know which questions I got wrong after the exam.
During the preparation process, I found that the quality of the video courses is very high. Both Teacher Bao and Teacher Dong explained very well (I prefer Teacher Bao, haha). Many details are not mentioned in the official documentation, and it would be great if the lecture slides could be shared~
There are also many premium courses, and just looking at the course titles makes me very excited. Unfortunately, I have too few points. Can the next event be like the 303 event?
The community atmosphere is also very good. Every morning, students start studying and checking in very early, which feels very motivating.
I’ll take the new certification next year.
The community’s free certification and ultra-low points exchange courses are a huge benefit, providing a great opportunity for users with insufficient points and students. Additionally, the scheduled and regular settings can create a sense of urgency, motivation, and encourage more proactive and in-depth understanding of TiDB. Lastly, I suggest that such activities be held twice a year, so that those who are looking forward to it won’t have to wait too long, and the events won’t seem too frequent or lose their value.
This year’s goal was to pass the PTCP exam. There was an event, so I immediately signed up and just barely passed. However, I feel like there is still a lot of knowledge I haven’t mastered. If there’s another free exam next year, I’ll take it again.
I received the news too late this time and didn’t accumulate enough points
Next time, I’ll definitely be ahead of the pack~
Take the PCSD exam next year.
Is it next year? Is there nothing in the second half of this year?
This event was awesome
, I was very lucky to pass the PCTP. If there is another one next year, I will definitely participate and plan for PCSD;
Of course, it would be even better if it is held in the second half of this year
Next year is too long to wait. It would be great if there could be another one in the second half of this year. I wasn’t prepared this time and didn’t pass.
