Imprint is a tech-driven, high growth startup focused on the payment industry, aiming to build the most valuable relationships between great brands and their customers. Imprint has released its first product: a co-branded card issuing platform, which is able to issue merchant-branded spend & credit cards with modern digital cardholder experience and highly customized rewards experiences. As a series-A startup, Imprint is able to achieve all these with a small team around 15 engineers and 1 year timeframe. In this talk, Ruochen will share the architecture of the system, the critical decisions made, and lessons learned all through the journey.

Liquan, Senior Database Engineer from PingCAP will talk about the benefits of using Distributed SQL such as TiDB to build FinTech Initiatives. TiDB is a Hybrid Transactional and Analytical Processing (HTAP) database which enables developers to build applications that serve millions to billions users and in the meantime monitor the key performance indicator of the business powered by the application in real time on fresh, consistent data. We will demonstrate how TiDB has enabled FinTech companies to seamlessly scale their business without concerning the bottlenecks in the database and reduced the time to discover anomalies to ensure safety and security of customer’ asset.

Ruochen is the head of the engineering team at Imprint, leading teams including payment core services, developer experience, infrastructure and data platform. Before Imprint, he was an ex-Amazon and ex-Grab engineer leader building various products such as cloud services, food-delivery search experience, content personalization and recommendation.

Senior Database Engineer, PingCAP

Liquan is a Senior Database Engineer at PingCAP. Before PingCAP, he was the tech lead of the ads stream processing system at Pinterest. Prior to that, he worked at Confluent, focusing on Kafka and Kafka Connect. He is an open-source contributor to Apache Kafka and Apache Spark and was a speaker at Kafka Summit 2018 and 2019.
